The weather channel says we are going to have great weather! Perhaps it will be even as nice as it was in March when we had that unseasonable spell of warm days.

I believe that you will enjoy the decor on the barn deck and in the paddock. We have lots of flowers in the prettiest of colors as well as fun items for your garden. The little red patio set really takes my eye. And the white one with the pretty pillows is a knockout! The rain boots on the fence will attract your attention and make you smile. Be sure to say hello to the cute, skinny guy greeting you at the door! He makes me laugh every time I look at him because I have mistaken him for a real person more than once!! Judging from the way he looks at me I think he knows it, too!.

I hope to see you all at the upcoming sale. We will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, beginning at 10:00 and closing at 5:00. Take a moment to enjoy a cup of coffee and a treat with us. We love chatting with you and hearing of your adventures since we last talked.

Once again, the barn is overflowing with personality.  Each vignette tells a different tale of yesteryear…

We have a beautiful vintage mantel that tells an even more beautiful story.   It is so relaxing to take a moment and reflect on days gone by.  Did the men congregate here with a fancy cigar and a warm, crackling fire after dinner while the ladies happily restored the dining room to all its glory?   Or did the neighborhood ladies gather here for tea to relax after a busy morning?   The matching table was no doubt filled with family pictures to be enjoyed by everyone.

The beautiful oak table reminds me of my childhood and special Sunday dinners.  In case you are wondering, the special menu was so special that it never varied!  Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, home made bread, jello and pie!  My mother made three  pies every Sunday morning after church!   Two large and one small, at that!  The cream pies were always my favorite!

Our beach section will make you ask “when does the Dodgeville pool open?”  Or perhaps you will give thought to making a trip to Governor Dodge State Park ( or Gov D as the younger set calls it) soon to enjoy the beauty.  And maybe even stick your toes in the lake to test the water!

Our next sale is May 17, 18 and 19.  We open at 10:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM each day.  We hope to see you there!  

Now back to the barn update.  We have some unusual displays and items for you to explore at our first sale.  (May 17, 18 & 19…..10:00 AM to 5:00 PM)  One of my favorites is the beautiful table and chairs that Alice discovered at an auction she attended.  The wood is such a pretty golden color and the chairs are upholstered in such beautiful fabric.  I know you will love this set.

Another fun and gorgeous display is the indoor wicker set.  There is a nice sized love seat and 2 end tables.  The covered cushions are so spring like and comfortable.  I can see my self relaxing on the luxurious love seat, all curled up with a good book and enjoying some ice tea and a peanut bar from Dodgevilles Quality Bakery!

Jack has an interesting display of old tools.  Each time I look at all of those things I thank God that I don’t know how to work most of them.  I feel fortunate to live in a day when we don’t have to do so much manual work just to raise our families and stay healthy.  

We have all been busy in the barn for the past weeks.  And there have been lots of family activities that have kept us all busy as well. Terry’s daughter Mattie and her Dad performed in Julie W.’s production of The Sound of Music. Amy’s son attended the prom(and was very handsome!). Janice and Jeff’s daughter is preparing for HS granduation. Julie C’s grandson was the crown bearer at the prom. Myrna is busy perfecting her role as grandparent and remains our resident great bargain hunter. Alice volunteers her time at her church and the Historical Society as well as keeps her husband, Jim, in a very good mood.  Barb, the lucky one,  is enjoying a 3 week vacation in Hawaii!  Jack is  an auctioneer and an avid collector so he is always out and about doing interesting things. I attended the University of Wisconsin Varsity band concert last week.  It was an amazing performance!  I also enjoyed the Midwestern Horse Fair.  The horses are all so beautiful!  Perhaps the most entertaining thing that I did last week was shopping for a hat  that my friend needs for the Kentucky Derby!  What a riot!  We kept reminding her that its all about the hat! She agreed and made some beautiful purchases.
