Last Thursday at 4:00 AM several of the ladies from The Rocking Horse Antiques and Collectibles piled into Annie’s van and headed for the burbs of Minneapolis. As we began our trip we all admitted that we had not slept at all the previous night, we were all way to0 excited for the trip. But with lots of hot coffee and home made snacks from Annie we began our trek.
With Terry at the wheel we started our journey. Our goal was the many “Occasional Sales” at various locations in Minnesota. When the sun finally came up we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the Mississippi. It was breathtaking!
We arrived at our destination around 9:00 AM. We were met by Dawn, one of our vendors, and her sister Debbie who lives in the area. Debbie had our plans for the day in hand and off we went. Our first stop was The Cat and The Fiddle. That place was absolutely amazing! There are several buildings in one grouping and each has their own design and specialty. Julie found an adorable kids picnic table that she can’t wait for her grandkids to enjoy. As we loaded that along with several smaller items in the back of the van we all agreed that we should have brought the trailer!
And then we were off to our second stop, Hauptek. WOW! That shop had a little bit of everything. It was overwhelming! We had such fun there, everyone found something that they could just not live without! As we crammed Annie’s deck chairs into the back of the van we all decided that the trailer would have helped some, but what we really needed was a UHaul!
Westward to Carver! That was our next destination. We arrived there and once again found many interesting things. We had to curb our buying spree since we had totally run out of room in the van. But that did not stop us from trooping from one shop to the other and marvelling over the many finds! Their displays were all so unique!
It was getting time to head home but not before we stopped at one more shop. It was a roadside shop that was about to close and they graciously let us come in and shop for a bit. We appreciated that since we are never really ready to call it a day!
We headed back home, again enjoying the great Mississippi River scenery. We stopped in Coon Valley for a late dinner. Food is always a great way to end a trip.
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Needless to say we are in the midst of planning our next road trip up that way. None of it would have been possible without Debbie. She and Dawn must have spent hours making sure we could make the most of our time spent there. They were such great tour guides! The day went like clock work!! THANK YOU DAWN AND DEBBIE!!!
