Antiques, Decorations and Peanut Butter Cookies

Despite the rain and cold weather we had a great sale this past weekend.   We met so many new and interesting folks.  It was great visiting with so many of them.   The Fall Art Tour was going on in this part of the state so we were joined by a lot of those travelers.

We are busy getting ready for our Christmas Celebration.  It is November 6, 7 & 8.   I hope you can join us.  We have lots of new furniture pieces and lots and lots of Christmas decorations!

At our last sale Annie brought some great Peanut Butter Cookies.  So many of you asked for the recipe and I did not have it.  I promised I would put it on our web site, so here it is.  Enjoy!  Annie also makes several jams, jellies, pickles and other goodies that are available during our sales.  And in the Spring and Summer she does beautiful flower arrangements and garden pieces.  If you missed them this year be sure to plan on stopping in to see them next year.    Again, enjoy the cookies!

Another Auction, more rain

Last night I went to another auction.  It seems I just can’t find an auction with good weather.  It rained all the time that I was there!  I had on nice warm clothing but my feet got really cold.  But once again, it was worth it.

One of the things that really took my eye was a beautiful, flawless buffet. I just had to have it!   I didn’t think far enough ahead to realize that it would not fit in my small truck, especially since the truck was already loaded down with other great buys!   My good friend, Betty Lou, came to my rescue AGAIN!  I called her and she brought her truck down to the auction and loaded it up for me.  Betty Lou is a very interesting lady.  She is involved in many ventures, the least of which is raising emu.  You might want to take a look at her web site, www.valleyviewemus.com.  Lesson learned?  Yes, indeed!  I must take the trailer next time!

We will try to get the buffet on the floor today.  There are other interesting new items on display as well.  So be sure to stop in this weekend to look around and chat with us for awhile.

EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA! We made a last minute decision to add extra sale dates to our fall agenda. We will be open on October 16, 17 and 18. Sales will begin @ 10:00 AM and end @ 5:00 PM each day. Be sure to stop in. We have many new items for your last minute fall shopping.

Antiques, Collectibles and Great Fall Items

It was sure great to cuddle up in front of the fireplace when I got home today!   I went to an auction and an estate sale.  There were a few snow flakes in the air at the auction!  I was bundled up, one would think I was competing in the Iditarod!   The good news is that I was able to purchase some great items for our next sale!  And at some great prices as well so we will be able to pass those savings on to you!  I suppose that most of the auctions will be indoors for the next few months.  I like that thought!   I was near Monroe so I stopped in the Swiss Colony and bought some yummy treats to have with coffee at our next sale.  Be sure and stop in and check out our new items and definitely have a cup of coffee and enjoy the petits fours from the Swiss Colony!

It’s October!

          bed

We have had many inquiries regarding this gorgeous bed.  Not to mention the beautiful Peacock chenille bedspread!    This bed was only on our floor for a couple of hours.   It sold very quickly!  And the bedspread was gone in no time as well.   I am sorry to disappoint so many of you.  I would love to be able to tell you that we will look for another just like it, but that is the beauty of this bed………….there is not another one like it!   Julie hated to sell it but believe it or not, Julie runs out of room too!  Beds have been a very popular item in the barn!  We had a beautiful oak bed that sold the first day it was displayed.   And another set with a sleigh bed sold in a couple of days!  This bed looked amazing tucked away in our little bedroom area.  We were all sad to see it go!

It is really beginning to look like fall at the Rocking Horse Antiques. The bittersweet is so full and colorful this year. And can’t you just smell the candles from the Vintage Vestibule? What fun!!
